The Road to Becoming a Premier Carrier in Home Furnishings and Beyond

SunBelt Xpress first took to the road in 1965 as a Specialized Carrier dedicated to the home furnishings industry. Every day since we have worked to help make Logistics and Supply Chain management easier for our customers. We provide a single point of contact that customers can rely on for all their shipping needs. SunBelt also offers access to a fleet of well-maintained transportation assets of nearly 300 tractors and over 800 trailers.

1965: SunBelt Xpress is founded as Norton Ramsey in Hickory, North Carolina, as a Specialized Carrier for the home furnishings industry.

2001: ATS acquires SunBelt Xpress.

2009: SunBelt Xpress acquires two well-established Specialized Furniture Carriers—Newton Transportation and Anderson Trucking—which allows us to expand into the Midwest and Florida.

2009: Shortly after, we open a Service Center in Fontana, California, to serve shippers and retailers based in Southern California.

2010: SunBelt Xpress opens a facility in Dallas, Texas, to better service the Lone Star State’s growing home furnishing manufacturing and distribution companies.

2011: SunBelt Xpress acquires Shull Transport in 2011, which allows us to further expand into the Midwest and Northeast markets.

2011: Later that year, we open a service center in Greensboro, North Carolina, and expand our Transportation Solutions to include General Commodity Truckload and Industry-Specific Services for companies in fiber optics, polymers, textiles and apparel.

2016: SunBelt Xpress acquires Northwest Furniture Xpress, which expands our services into the Pacific Northwest and Canada.
